The GT Lightning was produced two years, 1997 and 1998 when titanium was the hot tubing. GT produced the Lightning as a complete bike with mid level spec to address the needs of their International distributors that wanted a lower priced GT titanium complete bike. The Lightning was produced in the same geometry as GT’s ever popular Xizang model. The frame made famous over the years by GT “Team Scream” members like Juliana Furtado, Rishi Grewal, Tom Rogers, Gerhard Zadrobilek, Susan DiBiase, Chantal Daucourt, David Baker and Marc Gullickson. This Lightning features GT’s Triple Triangle competition series frame design… flawlessly TIG welded from USA made Sandvik 3AL/2.5V titanium tubing… and assembled in an evacuated welding chamber which assures absolutely perfect welds. GT’s have always been known or their durability, handling and climbing and this Lightning will not disappoint! A very forgiving ride that aluminum and steel can’t match!
